The question now isn't so much if Sarah Palin is ready to be president, or even ready for prime-time. The answer, clearly, is no. 18 months ago she was the part-time mayor of a hamlet of 6,000 people. Anyone who can say with a straight face that Palin is ready to take over should McCain, an elderly man with a history of health scares, die or be incapacitated, also would advocate for the presidential readiness of the Cicely, Alaska, shopkeeper on the 1990s TV show, 'Northern Exposure.'
I'm not certain that keeping a new VP pick away from the Sunday TV shows is commonplace, but as if this story couldn't possibly get more bizarre, here now is John McCain defending his bizarre choice of Sarah Palin to be within a heartbeat of the presidency:
She's my soul mate. . . . I've watched her for many years.
